I would like to welcome all of you to our Metacomet Elementary School website!
In these unprecedented times that we are living in, that break away from normalcy and comfort, I see our Bloomfield community rally to support each other. Our Bloomfield Public School system hosts a free breakfast and lunch program every day Monday - Friday at Carmen Arace School, our technology department is providing Chromebooks to students who do not have access to technology, and our Metacomet teachers and staff are reaching out to families in an effort to provide support. Our whole school community continues to value and invest in the partnership that we share with you and are ready to support your child and family in the educational process.
Our goal for your child remains focused on education but we do realize that families may be struggling at this time so we will be flexible and responsive to students and family needs. We hope that our online tools and resources will improve out student learning and support students and families. We expect that our use of online tools (Google Classroom, video conferencing, and educational websites) will help connect teachers, students, and families and provide a two way communication that promotes growth, encouragement and feedback on learning.
Our Metacomet Distance Learning Plan can be accessed through Google Classroom, the Virtual Backpack tab on our website, and through your email. The plan is designed to be easy for students to access throughout the day at their own pace and based on family circumstances. Our Metacomet teachers will check-in with students/families at least twice a week. The teacher will provide support to your child by helping them with the work through telephone, email, or video conferencing.
Your child's teacher will reach out to you each week. The Metacomet staff has worked very hard and are eager to begin this new Digital Learning adventure. Our Student Support Team has developed Individualized Learning Plans for each student on their caseload to address Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) goals and objectives. The implementation of the plans will include activities, to "check-in" sessions for the related service providers. Our Case Managers will continue to partner with you relative to fielding questions and providing support.
